Does A VPN Protect Me From All Cyber Attacks?

If you are using a VPN mainly because you want to be protected from cyber attacks, then you are missing the point of using a VPN service. I try and explain this in clear terms for you.



VPN does not protect you from most cyber attacks, such as, phishing, virus infestation of your device, and more. What a VPN does is to protect you from external prying eyes in real-time.

This means, for example, if you already have a virus in your device(s) that logs your activities and then send them to its author, then a VPN cannot help you there. Neither can a VPN protect you from identity theft. So what then does VPN protect you from?

As mentioned earlier, a VPN protect you from external prying eyes.

This means for example, that if an attacker wants to know your internet activities and/or location, without first infesting your device with a malware, but by just monitoring the traffic that your device is sending and receiving, then they will not be able to, because the VPN will make the traffic you are sending and receiving with your device undecryptable by the attacker.

So if you want an all-round protection from cyber attacks, the use of VPN is a good way to start, but the key is

INTERNET/CYBER EDUCATION

This does not mean that VPN are not worthy of your money. Remember, I said, 'if you want an all-round protection from cyber attacks, the use of VPN is a good way to start' because they give you back your privacy.
